The Saense Beers from Brewery Breugem

Breugem is brewed in Brouwerij HOOP in Zaandijk.

You can taste the quality from Zaandijk with every full sip of a bottle of Breugem beer. We produce specialty beer with complete dedication and passion based on well-thought out recipes. Are you a true foodie? We also create a delicious, appropriate beer for the seasons. For fans we occasionally release Limited Editions and fresh from the press: Patrick brews every two months on the kettle in Lab-44 10 HL fresh beer. This beer is available in limited quantities at selected catering establishments such as Lab-44 and if it is bottled; at the better liquor store. Every time something new, guaranteed exclusive and fresh! We had the Ekuanot Blond as the first experiment and the second project was Hot & Stout, a full stout with peppers. Saens Zoentje

Unique in name and taste: Het Zoentje (the kiss). Our flagship, and for many years a household name among Breugem drinkers, is a golden amber beer. It is fresher than a spring bock and less bitter than an IPA. By using German, American and New Zealand hop varieties, a peach and citrus-fruit-like character literally pops out of your glass.

Malt: Pils, Munich and Carahell

Session 3%

Our 3% session is a new, fresh beer with only 3% alcohol. A nice drinker so. Dry hopping with Grungeist hops gives a unique taste with peach and passion fruit tones. The hint of lemon zest gives a fresh-dry finish.

Saense Tripel

It is full of aromas of herbs from the yeast and has a fresh citrus-like character from a mixture of American and German hops. An intense and complex Dutch tripel that still drinks easily.

Saens Wit

The brewer dreamed of a white beer that makes people happy. The Saense Wit is a beer that you can perfectly enjoy on the terrace. After you drink it, you probably think 'may I have another'.

Asian White

Fresh and summery wheat rice beer with freshly grated Galanga carrot and Djeroek Poeroet. Sleek in taste, light in alcohol and with a characteristic pepper and citrus character.

Kracht Hout

A powerful quadrupel with Palo Santo wood. Patrick Breugem and Derek Walsh have taken on the challenge of adding this unique wood to this beer. The result is a prize-winning beer! Gold in the "Innovation Special, Wood-bearing" category, Dutch Beer Challenge 2017.

Heet & Stout

The brewer Patrick Breugem asked the men of Zaanse Sambal for their local peppers. Well, the request did not fall on deaf ears. the result was a beautiful stout beer with hot peppers. It was first brewed as a small batch, but after winning gold at the Dutch Beer Challenge 2018 we brewed a few more of it ;-)


Malt: Maris Otter Pale Ale, Brown, Black, Crystal
Hop: Willamette, Marynka
Yeast: Lallemand London
                                                        Diverse: tincture based on vodka 50% with smoked peppers, Habanero, Naga Jolokia and red chili
Bitterness: 42 EBU

Seizoensbieren en limited editions

Pasionate brewers often have to be slowed down when developing new beers. But when they come loose, something beautiful often comes out: limited editions.

Breugem has Double IPA & Dark IPA as Limited Editions and the seasonal beers are the spring and autumn bock beers: Lente Kus (spring beer) and Herst Bock (autumn beer). 

Lente Kus

The literal translation of spring kiss is spring kiss. It’s a copper-yellow colored, fresh bottom-fermenting bock. Frisky taste and pleasant to drink. A traditional spring bock with a soft aroma.

Malt: Munich, Pilsner, Cara Pils and Sour
Hops: Hallertau Magnum, Saphir and Perle
Bitterness: 26 EBU

Alcohol percentage: 7.3%

Herfst Bock

Elegant red-brown traditionally fermented bock. Light malty, a spicy character and nicely balanced. The use of German hop varieties ensures a delicate taste. A bock perfect for colder days. Gold in the "Lower: German-Style Dunkel Bock / Doppelbock" category, Brussels Beer Challenge 2017

BBC 2017 goud

Malt: Munich, Pils, Melanoids, Wheat, CaraMunich 120, Special B and Carafa

Dark IPA

An experiment by Patrick Breugem and Derek Walsh resulted in a tight dark IPA with the smell and taste of tangerines and freshly brewed coffee. Do you dare to drink the Dark IPA?

Hops: Centennial, Citra and Dry Hopping with Sorachi Ace

Double IPA

It's our hopsiest beer. In this gold-amber beer you can taste the American hop bitter with notes of lime and dill from Sorachi Ace and Cascade dry-hop. A complex, powerful yet balanced beer.

Hops: Centennial, Citra, Sorachi Ace and Cascade
Various: Dextrose
Bitterness: 59 EBU

Alcohol percentage: 7.9%


Celebrate the summer and long late summer with a Caramba! Our super fresh Mexican beer. Great for the BBQ or on the terrace. Drink it with or without a lime, but always from the bottle. It is a light and summery Mexican bearing with a fresh aftertaste. as it should.

Ingredients: water, malt, hops, corn and yeast.
Bitterness: 15 EBU

Alcohol percentage: 3%


A demi-sec sparkling champagne beer with a fresh, slightly dry taste and an addition of green apples.

Malt: Digemans wheat malt, Steinbach Sour, Swaen Lager
Hops: Hallertauer Blanc
Bitterness: 6 EBU

Winter Gloed

When the winter arrives, you can use a helping hand. We have developed a rich beer for the short, cold winter days. A sturdy double with accents of clove, cinnamon, anise, and licorice. Perfect for heating the cold winter months.
